What Are Skin Tags?

Skin tags are very common, small, soft, harmless skin irregularities or growths that almost everyone will experience at some point in their life. They’re not dangerous, but they can be very annoying, especially given that the most common places people get skin tags are the eyelids, neck, armpits, groins, and chest.

Our technicians are trained to safely and effectively remove skin tags in-office using a variety of methods. At-home removal is not recommended as we have seen infection, scarring, and discolouration.

What Are Milia?

Milia are small white bumps that usually appear on the nose or cheek. They are harmless and will often go away on their own, but sometimes milia can become irritated or infected and require medical intervention. This is called milia en plaque or eruptive milia.

Symptoms of this type of milia include clusters of milia that form on the face, upper back or torso. They can be itchy, red, or irritated. If you are experiencing eruptive milia or multiple milia that won’t resolve on their own, our technicians have a variety of services to treat and remove the cysts including chemical peels, facials, microdermabrasion, and topical solutions.

What Are Cherry Angiomas?

Cherry angiomas get their name from the broken blood vessels inside the growth. Like most skin irregularities, they are harmless but can be unsightly and annoying. They often appear in people 30 years and older. They are not a cause for concern unless they bleed, or change size or shape or colour.

You may wish to have you cherry angioma removed for cosmetic reasons or if it is an area that is easily irritated. As with skin tags, our technicians have a variety of options to treat and remove your cherry angioma effectively and pain-free.

What Are Cholesterol Deposits?

Cholesterol bumps, also called, xanthomas, are fatty deposits under the skin. They are usually flat and smooth with clearly defined edges and can be anywhere from the size of a pen tip to up to three inches across. Cholesterol deposits are often yellow or slightly flesh coloured. They are not painful or harmful but could sometimes be a sign of high cholesterol or elevated blood lipid levels.

Fatty deposits can be unsightly and, depending on the area, uncomfortable. If you wish to have them removed, our technicians are trained to use laser therapy to remove deposits.

What Is Keratosis?

Keratosis is the most common form of non-cancerous skin growths in adults. The growths usually appear as black, brown, or light tan spots on the face, back, or chest and can have a waxy or scaly texture to them. They are painless, but can become irritated if they rub against clothing or if you pick or scratch at them.

If you wish to have your keratosis growth removed, our technicians use a variety of treatments including laser, freezing, electrocautery, and manual removal.
