Here’s Why Your Body May Not Be Burning Fat
“I’m eating healthy but I just can’t seem to lose the weight.”
“I’m exercising regularly but I’m not seeing any progress”
“I’m so close to my goal but I can’t seem to get rid of that last little bit”
Sound familiar?
Fat burning can be a long and difficult process and there are a whole number of reasons you could not be burning fat. Medical conditions, stress, genetics, lifestyle; whatever the reason, there’s a lot that could be preventing you from burning that excess body fat. So, why might you not be losing the weight and what’s the solution?
Your Body Is Working Against You
The hard truth is that our bodies often work against us. Since the very beginning of humankind, our bodies have been trained to seek out fat building foods. When we were hunter / gatherers, we never really knew when our next meal would come and therefore our bodies, by design, are built to store fat.
To this day, our bodies still create chemicals for prehistoric survival that make modern day fat burning very difficult.
When you lose body fat, your body decreases the hormone known as leptin. Leptin signals your brain that you’re full from eating because over the course of our evolution, fat building meant survival. So if we’re losing fat, the mind panics and says, “Oh no, keep eating”. This then increases a hormone called ghrelin which actually stimulates hunger. In fact, even if you succeed at ignoring these hormones and reaching your weight loss goal, the hormone imbalance continues long after your big win, making it even harder to keep the pounds off.
It is important to create a healthy balanced diet. We each have a resting metabolic rate, which is the number of calories our body needs to sustain. Eating too much food causes a surplus which our bodies convert into fat. At the same time eating too little causes our bodies to go into a state of survival. Eating a diet based around your metabolic rate may cause you to slim out at first and see a decrease in muscle. As our bodies still want to store fat it needs to get sustenance from somewhere and attacks the muscle first. This is why people who do large calorie deficit diets often plateau or quickly gain the wait back as soon as they stop. Losing weight gradually through a balanced diet and exercise may feel like a long annoying road but in the end you will be much more likely to keep the pounds off.
The Reality Of Exercising
Exercising is an extremely important element to living a longer and healthier life, but it’s nearly impossible to lose weight with exercise alone. In order to lose a pound of fat, you have to burn 3,500 calories more than you consume. That’s why exercise alone isn’t the answer because with a poor diet, the results can be minimal and hours a day in the gym just isn’t realistic.
Fad Diets and Supplements Simply Don’t Work
We’ve all tried them, there is certainly no lack of them, but there is a reason these “diets” are simply fads.
Between the pills that “supercharge” your metabolism and the maple-syrup cayenne pepper diet, there are a number of very misleading weight loss fads and the truth is almost all of them won’t get you the results you are hoping for. Countless reviews have not found a link between over-the-counter supplements and weight loss. And as for all those miracle “diets”? These supposedly fat burning triggering diets are highly restrictive, nearly impossible to follow, and in some cases extremely unhealthy and can damage your metabolism
There Are No Quick Fixes, Right?
Wrong.
Well, kind of wrong. It’s all about finding a balance. Our bodies are unique and for this reason it is difficult to find a cure all that works for everyone.
Fat loss is really about portion control, dieting and exercise. If you take control of those things and keep to it, you should not only see the pounds come off but you should feel better and live longer.
But for some, that still doesn’t seem to get the job done. Weight loss can be a long, lonely and difficult journey, which is why we’re always so happy when we get the opportunity to help someone finally reach their fat loss goals.
How do we do that?
There are many technologies available on today’s market that can help to manually remove pockets of unwanted fat.
Lucky for you, there are options available in which you may not need to explore more extreme options such as surgery or liposuction to help combat stubborn fat.
Liposuction and surgeries such as tummy tucks come with their own set of risks and complications. And that’s not to mention down time post procedure hardships. Everyone’s body responds differently and these expensive, painful procedures still may not gaurantee you get the results you desire.
At Skin Revival, we actually offer two of the industries leading services that can help you finally target some of that stubborn fat in an easy, zero down time way.
SculpSure
SculpSure is Canada’s newest, most innovative, laser treatment for breaking down fats and other lipids in area such as your flanks (love handles) and abdomen. It’s a great non-invasive alternative to liposuction and only takes 25 minutes per area. With SculpSure, laser pulses target fat deposits under the skin and use heat to destroy the cells. Over time, these cells are naturally absorbed and removed from the body with results seen as quickly as 6-12 weeks. Most patients find the service to be mildly uncomfortable but with no lingering discomfort. Think of it this way: if you went to the gym and it was always easy and you never felt muscle soreness, do you think you’d see any real change? Short term discomfort for long term results!
See if SculpSure is right for you
TriLipo
TriLipo is a non-invasive fat removal process that combines deep volumetric heating using radio frequencies, internal muscle contractions and external mechanical force for effective fat removal. You’ll see results after the very first treatment.
As this method requires manual manipulation on the surface of the skin, by a trained technician, we are able to truly contour and customize this treatment. Above the benefits of reducing size and volume we see a dramatic improvement in skin elasticity and texture.
Radio Frequencies (RF) generate heat within the skin. Once focused, it can be pinpointed to stimulate areas on the body to increase fat metabolism. The thermal effect accelerates the natural fat metabolism process. While patients feel a warm sensation, it’s a very tolerable solution to fat loss, similar to a hot stone massage.
Helping our clients finally reach their goals, especially with something as difficult as fat loss, is why we do this job. Whether you’re just getting started on your journey or you’re at the very end, we would be happy to help you finally get there.
